Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities in various settings, including assisted living, group homes, and memory care facilities. Your primary focus will be to enhance the quality of life for residents by promoting independence and ensuring their needs are met with dignity and respect.
Duties
- Assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor residents for any side effects or changes in condition.
- Provide personal care while respecting resident rights and promoting their autonomy.
- Engage residents in social activities and encourage participation in recreational programs to enhance their well-being.
- Support individuals with mobility challenges, including heavy lifting when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for all residents, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Document care provided and report any changes in resident health or behavior to the appropriate staff members.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Requirements
- Experience in long-term care settings such as assisted living or group homes is preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care principles is a plus.
- Ability to lift and assist individuals with physical disabilities safely.
- Understanding of resident rights and commitment to advocating for those rights.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
- Certification in medication administration is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
