NHPS Summer School Social Worker (High School)
REPORTS TO: Building Leaders/ Program Director
POSITION SUMMARY: New Haven Public School Summer School Social Workers address the psychological and social well-being of students at the high school level and beyond. They provide information, counseling and support to students, parents and school staff by working collaboratively to problem solve.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ? Integrated intervention efforts that emphasize primary prevention ? Early screening and intervention: Observations, collaboration with school staff, Parental Contact ? Approaches to intervention that target multiple risk factors in home, school, and community settings and involve parents, teachers, and administrators ? Counseling services to IEP and regular education students ? Crisis intervention ? Development of IEP: Goals, objectives, present levels (as needed) ? Collaboration with community agencies ? Support to parents/guardians ? Support to Culture and Climate (i.e.- Restorative Practices facilitator) ? Approaches that seek to improve individual and system factors contributing to academic success: Collaboration and planning with teachers and other related school staff members ? Staff Presentations: DCF training, SEL, IDEA related topics, etc. (as needed) ? Develops and Facilitates Social Skills Groups: self-esteem, anger management, executive functioning skills, etc. ? Works closely with building administrators, crisis team leaders, etc. ? Conducting Evaluation: Initials, Re-evaluations, Annuals, FBA's and BIP's (as needed) ? Data-informed decision making and intervention fidelity ? Have the knowledge of and comply with local, state, and federal mandates related to informed consent, privacy and confidentiality, and access to records within the context of legal and ethical rights of minors and parents.

CERTIFICATION / ENDORCEMENT REQUIREMENTS: Masters Degree in Social Work, Connecticut Certification in Social Work (071) Compensation: Certified Teachers $35.00/hour
