What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Machine Operator – Print & Mail position at New Hampshire Print & Mail?
Enjoy working with equipment, solving problems, and seeing a job through from start to finish? Build your skills with a local company where your work matters.
New Hampshire Print & Mail is a family-owned company serving New Hampshire businesses and organizations for more than 20 years. We’re looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined person to operate production equipment and help keep customer projects moving accurately and on schedule.
Your primary assignment will be in our Presort/Mailing Department, operating equipment that sorts and processes customers’ daily mail. You’ll also cross-train in other production areas, including bindery and finishing, digital printing, and wide format printing.
Print and mail experience is helpful, but not required. Experience operating machinery, making equipment adjustments, following detailed instructions, or troubleshooting production problems can be a strong foundation. We’ll teach you our equipment and processes.
What You’ll Do
- Set up, operate, and monitor high-speed mailing and sorting equipment.
- Troubleshoot jams, feeding issues, and other interruptions; recognize when additional help is needed.
- Check addresses, barcodes, print quality, and finished work against job instructions.
- Sort, tray, label, and prepare mail according to postal requirements.
- Read work orders and follow production procedures to complete jobs accurately and on time.
- Load materials, move mail trays, and package completed work for delivery or shipment.
- Learn additional equipment and assist in printing, finishing, and other production areas.
- Keep equipment and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
What You’ll Bring
- Mechanical aptitude: You’re comfortable working with machinery and learning how equipment operates.
- Attention to detail: You check your work, notice inconsistencies, and address problems before they affect the finished job.
- Dependability: You arrive on time, follow through, and understand that your team relies on you.
- Problem-solving skills: You can work through an issue, follow troubleshooting steps, and ask questions when needed.
- Basic computer skills: You’re comfortable entering information and learning production software.
- Flexibility and teamwork: You can shift between tasks and help other departments meet deadlines.
Previous experience in machine operation, manufacturing, print production, mailing, bindery, or equipment-based warehouse work is a plus. A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
What to Expect
This is an active, hands-on production role involving both equipment operation and material handling. You’ll spend much of the day standing and moving, perform repetitive tasks that require consistent attention, and work toward daily production deadlines.
The role requires lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, bending, reaching, and loading and unloading materials, with reasonable accommodation as applicable.
