Minimum Qualifications
- Education/Experience:** Bachelor's degree and 1.5 years of experience OR equivalent combination of 5.5 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must be in environmental science, environmental studies, environmental engineering, natural resources, biology, botany, wildlife, forestry, hydrology, or a related field.
- License/Certification:** Valid Drivers License
- Must be willing to travel throughout the state, and work on occasional weekends and evenings.
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards established by the agency.
- This position involves regular fieldwork, including moderate physical labor. Must be able to work outdoors for long hours in varied weather conditions.

- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:** Strong interpersonal communication skills for interacting with constituents, landowners, state and local officials, academic circles and other stakeholders. Candidate must be able to negotiate varied and rugged terrain, have experience with outdoor safety skills, and be competent with use of compass, maps and surveys. AFS Certified Associate Fisheries Professional desired.

- Plans and develops work to be carried out within the warmwater fisheries research and management prog am to meet program objectives statewide.
- Coordinates and directs field staff to complete both warmwater fisheries program and Region 4 work plans Collects, analyzes and evaluates statewide scientific data collected on the warmwater fisheries research and management program, as well as other Region 4 projects.
- Reviews research data for accuracy and analysis and makes recommendations on the scientific merit of research data in order to meet both warmwater program and Region 4 objectives.
- Communicates within the Department, to other agencies, as well as to the public, and represents the Fish and Game Department at public meetings and professional conferences with regards to the warmwater fisheries research and management program.
- Prepares scientific reports on results of warmwater fisheries research and management programs, as well as supply other program leaders with data collection summaries performed in region 4 related to other programs.
- Purchase all equipment necessary to carry out the warmwater fisheries research and management program statewide, as well as other Region 4 work needs.
- Directly supervises full-time and temporary staff, other professionals and volunteers conducting work related to the warmwater fisheries research and management program and other efforts in Region 4.
- Coordinates all fishing tournament rules, permitting, data collection and analysis, as well as communicates with Tournament Directors, and acts as the liaison for the Department where necessary.
- Provides technical advice and assistance on any subject related to the warmwater fisheries research and management program to the public and municipal, media, education and inter-agency professionals.
