Responsibilities
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols while documenting all medication administration in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration rates, and temperature to assess residents’ health status.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including mobility support, personal hygiene, feeding assistance, and catheter care.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or other cognitive impairments by implementing memory care strategies and ensuring a safe environment.
- Support residents during tube feeding procedures and manage medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to update medical records accurately and communicate any changes in residents’ conditions promptly.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by following infection control protocols and assisting with routine housekeeping tasks related to patient care.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medication administration procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation purposes.
- Experience caring for individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring hospice or memory care services.
- Ability to perform vital signs measurement, catheter care, tube feeding assistance, and basic nursing tasks confidently.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of medical records and patient information.
- Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), or equivalent is required; additional certifications in caregiving or specialized care are a plus.
