What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Intern position at New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc.?
The Logistics Internship provides a tremendous opportunity for a degree seeking individual to learn and become familiar with logistics and NESL. Ideally, this program will help guide interns toward a career path that aligns with their interests and abilities.
Internship Structure
A mentor will be assigned to each intern and will remain with the intern for the duration of the internship. In addition, interns will interact with key positions across the Port of Buffalo and various members of operations. These interactions and relationships are intentionally designed to help the intern develop their skillset and grow professionally.
Assignment Overview
The intern will be expanding their knowledge of logistics and supply chain management by working at the Port of Buffalo. The intern will support the team with various projects and tasks assigned by their supervisor.
Travel to and from assignments and jobsites may occasionally be required. Travel expenses are reimbursable according to NESL Policy.
Areas of focus may include the following:
• Assist in the daily jobs associated with the Port
• Operate and maintain small equipment
• Assist in rigging operations
• Work as a team to complete jobs safely and on time.
Assist with software and computer applications
Assist with inventory
Qualifications
Must be enrolled in degree program in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related major.
Must have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Must possess strong attention to detail, good organizational skills with the ability to ensure accurate work.
Ability to work independently but as part of a team concept.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
