Job Summary
This position is responsible for the maintenance, operation and repair of equipment related to the City’s Water Quality (wastewater) System.
Examples of Duties
Monitor, maintain, operate and repair equipment and facilities related to the City’s wastewater collection and treatment system.
Create and maintain accurate record of repairs, routine maintenance tasks, pump station callouts and other significant work tasks.
Perform general external maintenance tasks such as mowing grass, trimming, and snow removal.
Performs indoor facility maintenance tasks such as cleaning, mopping, and painting.
Respond to on-call and weekend duties on a rotating schedule after training period.
Ensures work is performed in accordance with established safety and operational procedures and techniques, requiring independent judgment in operating equipment.
Performs duties in accordance with established procedures and techniques, requiring independent judgment and decision making.
Monitor and collect samples for State wastewater reporting. Perform basic laboratory functions.
Responsible for accurate data entry into State reporting forms.
Minimum Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. One year of relevant work experience with operation of mechanical, electrical, and automotive tools and equipment; equivalency considered.
Valid VT CDL license with Tanker Endorsement or must ability to obtain within the first six months of employment.
VT Grade 1-DM Wastewater Operator’s License or ability to obtain within the first six months of employment.
Supplemental Information
Demonstrated ability to work independently under the administrative direction of the Water Quality Superintendent.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with employees and the public.
Demonstrated ability to complete data entry in spreadsheets.
