Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing chairside assistance, ensuring infection control, and maintaining accurate medical documentation. Duties
- Assist dentists during various procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies while maintaining aseptic techniques
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring proper safety protocols for radiation exposure
- Record vital signs and medical history accurately using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic
- Manage medical documentation and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
- Provide chairside assistance with dental terminology, medical imaging, and medical coding as needed
- Educate patients on post-treatment care and dental health practices
- Maintain infection control standards by sterilizing instruments and adhering to aseptic techniques
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing medical records in coordination with the dental receptionist role
- Assist with pediatrics-specific procedures when necessary and adapt communication accordingly
Experience
- Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is preferred
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is highly advantageous
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and medical terminology is essential
- Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry or specialized fields like prosthodontics or endodontics is desirable
- Certification in X-ray technology for dental radiography is required or obtainable upon hire
- Prior exposure to pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is a plus
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and infection control standards within a clinical environment
