About the Role:
The Director of Clinical Services will play a pivotal role in overseeing and advancing the quality, integrity, and effectiveness of clinical operations across the organization. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Clinical Services and serving as a core member of the Clinical Services Management Team, this leader will be instrumental in developing and executing strategic initiatives that improve patient care delivery, clinical outcomes, and regulatory compliance. 

The Director of Clinical Services will lead multidisciplinary teams of clinical professionals and supervisors, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices, promoting continuous quality improvement, and fostering a culture of clinical excellence and accountability. This role will be directly responsible for the overall performance, clinical effectiveness, and operational success of the teams providing Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) services at the organization’s Norwell location. The incumbent will oversee all aspects of service delivery, ensuring these teams meet and exceed clinical benchmarks, regulatory standards, and client satisfaction goals. 

Additionally, this role requires strong financial stewardship, with responsibility for managing program budgets and resources to achieve operational efficiency and program sustainability. Ultimately, the Director of Clinical Services will contribute to the organization’s mission by promoting accessible, compassionate, and person-centered care in the communities we serve.
 
Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide direct oversight of day-to-day clinical operations, ensuring delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical programs and services aligned with evidence-based practices and organizational priorities.
  • Directly oversee and be accountable for the overall performance, clinical outcomes, compliance, and staff development of the Mental Health and teams at the Brookline location.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, licensing standards, and accreditation bodies (e.g., Joint Commission, DPH, BSAS).
  • Manage clinical program budgets and resource allocation, with a focus on efficiency, fiscal responsibility, and growth.
  • Deliver direct clinical supervision to licensed staff, clinicians, and program managers, supporting professional development and ensuring clinical competence.
  • Actively contribute to Clinical Services Management Team meetings, helping to shape clinical strategy, workforce development, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, operations, finance, and HR to ensure integration and alignment of clinical services with overall organizational goals.
  • Monitor program performance indicators, outcomes, and quality assurance metrics, and implement corrective action plans where necessary.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, referral sources, and community partners.
  • Drive staff recruitment, retention, and development efforts, promoting a positive and mission-driven workplace culture.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor for program managers and clinical leaders, promoting clinical innovation and best practices.
  • Perform other responsibilities and special projects as assigned by leadership.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related clinical field.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or equivalent independent licensure required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in clinical operations within a behavioral health, substance use, or mental health setting, with at least 2 years in a senior supervisory or management role.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Proven experience in program development, regulatory compliance, and clinical quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and managing program budgets and operational plans.
  • Advanced understanding of substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, and mental health treatment models.
  • Certification in relevant specialty areas (e.g., Certified Addiction Counselor, Trauma-Informed Care, DBT, CBT).
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong collaborative leadership and team-building skills across clinical and administrative domains.

Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
