Experienced Construction Surveyor

Heavy Civil & Infrastructure Projects

New England Infrastructure, Inc. (NEI) is seeking an experienced Construction Surveyor to support our heavy civil and infrastructure projects throughout New England. This is a hands-on field position for someone who understands how accurate, timely survey work supports successful construction operations.

The ideal candidate can independently interpret project plans, establish and maintain survey control, perform construction layout, document field conditions, and work closely with project teams to anticipate upcoming needs. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in active construction environments and takes pride in providing dependable information that keeps the work moving.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform construction layout for bridges, highways, utilities, drainage systems, structures, earthwork, and other civil infrastructure
  • Establish, verify, and maintain horizontal and vertical survey control
  • Interpret contract drawings, specifications, profiles, cross-sections, and digital project files
  • Provide line, grade, elevation, offset, and location information to field crews
  • Complete existing-condition, progress, quantity, and as-built surveys
  • Perform survey calculations and prepare accurate field documentation
  • Identify discrepancies or potential conflicts and communicate them promptly to project personnel
  • Coordinate survey priorities with project managers, superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, and field crews
  • Maintain survey equipment and ensure that data and records are organized and reliable
  • Support multiple projects as construction schedules and field needs require

What We’re Looking For

  • Significant construction surveying experience, preferably on heavy civil, bridge, highway, utility, or transportation projects
  • Ability to independently plan and perform construction layout
  • Strong understanding of survey control, elevations, grades, offsets, tolerances, and construction sequencing
  • Experience using robotic total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, data collectors, and related survey technology
  • Ability to read and understand complex civil and structural construction plans
  • Strong field judgment, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with both field and office personnel
  • Ability to organize competing priorities and respond to changing project needs
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites throughout New England

Experience with applicable survey, CAD, and construction data software is preferred. Professional licensure is welcomed but is not required for candidates with strong construction-layout experience.
