What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pension Fund Representative position at New England Health Care Employees Pension Fund?
Responsibilities
· Set-up and maintain files for all active, terminated vested and non-vested participants in assigned facilities.
· Collect and process changes to data for all active, retired and terminated participants.
· Collect all necessary enrollments and documents from participants to complete their pension file.
· Initiate employment/wage inquires with facilities and/or Social Security Administration.
· Determine participant’s eligibility for pension benefits, using data collected from participants, payroll and human resource staff at participating facilities, Collective Bargaining Agreements and social security records.
· Knowledge of the Plan that allows for accurate, effective answers to participant questions, verbally and in writing.
· Responsible for explaining the benefit and retirement processes to participants and assist in completion of all required forms.
· Research and follow-up on employment, wage and pension credit discrepancies until a resolution is determined. This is done by verbal and written correspondence with participants, facility personnel and union personnel.
· Update and maintain pension participant records in the BASYS system.
· Work with the Welfare Fund Membership Department regarding changes on active members participating in both Funds.
· Meet with members at employer work sites to enroll members and provide pension fund education.
· Assist in development of workflows and documentation of procedures for training manual.
· Assist in resolution of system problems identified by Pension or Welfare Fund staff.
· Write up issues for team discussions and as possible input to presentations for a legal opinion from Fund Attorney or Plan Actuary.
· Responsible for ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned by the Pension Fund Manager.
Requirements
· Associates Degree, or equivalent related experience required.
· A willingness to learn and increase knowledge of employee pension fund plans
· Expertise in Microsoft Office; Excel, Word
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Must have high ethical standards and high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
· Must be able to interact and communicate with participants and Fund staff at all levels in a professional manner.
· Must be able to adapt to ongoing administrative, plan and regulatory changes under the direction of the Pension Manager.
· Must be detail oriented, flexible and able to work independently.
· Must be able to work overtime, as needed, during first quarter (Jan-March)
