Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role located in Bridgeport, CT for an experienced Blanchard or surface grinder. The role involves setting up and operating Blanchard and/or surface grinding machines to achieve precise tolerances and finishes on a variety of steel materials and components. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting work orders and drawings, selecting proper grinding wheels and fixtures, inspecting parts using measurement tools, and documenting work performed to meet quality standards. The grinder will collaborate with team members to prioritize jobs, maintain a clean and safe work area, and support continuous improvement in grinding processes.

Qualifications
- Experience setting up and operating Blanchard and/or surface grinding equipment with a focus on precision flat grinding.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders, including tolerances and surface finish requirements.
- Proficiency using measurement and inspection tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges, surface finish testers) to verify part dimensions and finishes.
- Knowledge of steel materials, grinding wheels, feeds and speeds, and safe machine operation practices.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to identify and correct dimensional or finish issues.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and working within ISO or similar quality management systems.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift materials as required, and work effectively in a production environment.
- Prior experience in a machine shop or manufacturing setting; vocational training or apprenticeship in machining or grinding is a plus.
