Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct oral health assessments, including periodontal screenings and charting.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care strategies.
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures by preparing instruments and ensuring patient comfort.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Ensure the sterilization and proper handling of dental instruments and equipment to uphold infection control standards.
- Provide compassionate patient care by addressing concerns, explaining treatment plans, and fostering a positive experience.
Experience
- Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in Massachusetts
- Prior experience in a clinical dental setting is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for new graduates.
- Knowledge of current dental hygiene practices, infection control procedures, and safety standards.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with dental software systems for record keeping is advantageous but not required.
