JOB SUMMARY: 

The Concert Stage Manager’s main duties are to coordinate concert activities, and to ensure proper set-ups for concerts, rehearsals, and special events. This individual reports to the Assistant Director of Performance Production.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.    Manage stage/backstage activities during concerts and rehearsals.

2.    Execute set-ups for concerts, rehearsals and special events.

3.    Acquire and organize rehearsal and concert set-ups for NEC ensembles, special events and renter organizations.

4.    Oversee concurrent concerts, recitals and events in other halls and rooms.

5.    Supervise full-time stage assistants and work-study assistants.

6.    Consult with Audience Service Manager to ensure the quality and public safety of concert presentations.

7.    Move pianos, percussion, and other large instruments throughout buildings. 

8.    Assist with educational support for classroom activities (chairs, tables, blackboards, etc.) as needed.

9.    Perform general maintenance and cleaning of concert halls and associated areas.

10.    Assist with theatrical lighting requirements for NEC ensembles, special events and renter organizations.


QUALIFICATIONS: 

1.    High School degree required

2.    Familiarity with musical styles including orchestral, wind ensemble, chamber music, choral, and jazz. 

3.    Familiarity with musical instruments and equipment.

4.    Experience working with the artistic requirements of musicians.

5.    Physical ability to set-up and move equipment, and perform general maintenance tasks.

6.    Ability to work well under pressure.  

7.    Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

8.    Demonstrated ability to direct and motivate team members.

9.    Attention to detail and to supplied information.

10.    Knowledge of theatrical lighting and/or audio a plus.

11.    Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

12.    Ability and willingness to work overtime/evenings/weekends/holidays as needed.

13.    Ability to work the following schedule:

              40 hours weekly on a rotating schedule. Daily work shift will be 1pm to 11pm.
