Job Overview:

New England Cold Storage (NECS) opened our state-of-the-art cold storage warehouse in August of 2022. We store 25,000 pallets of frozen food from around the world. We started our brand-new company from scratch and have selectively hired people who add positive energy, share insightful ideas, and help improve our operation every day. What do our Operations Floor Leads do?

The Operations Lead is a working position, performing picking, loading, unloading trucks alongside the operators. This position spends 85% of their time on the floor & in the freezer working. In addition to working on the volume for the day, the lead is a coach and mentor to the warehouse operations team. They must exhibit positive, team-focused leadership in support of overall company goals and the NECS Team Culture.

Compensation based on experience, plus potential team bonus of up to $3.00/hour.

Under direction of the Operations Manager, your Responsibilities will include:

· Maintaining shipping/receiving and inventory control records.

· Performing sanitization and GMP functions to maintain a Food-Grade facility.

· Conducting training for all incoming warehouse operators.

· Monitoring conditions to ensure a safe and incident-free environment.

· Performing cycle counts, investigating customer discrepancies and auditing rack locations.

· Reporting of any non-conformances in equipment or inventory to Operations Manager.

· Submitting yard reports at the beginning of each shift.

· Reporting of all personnel matters to Operations Manager.

· Being a shift resource; assisting your team if they have questions about a load, trailer condition, systems issues, process or other business operations related matters.

· Adhere to all Food Safety procedures and SOPs.

· Learn the responsibilities of “Position 1” and “Position 2” to be performed in the event of an emergency evacuation.

· Observe effectiveness of warehousing activities and employee performance and provide feedback to management on observations.

· Collaborate with the Customer Service team.

· Must become an expert in our WMS system knowledge and process.

· Escalate issues to management and recommend potential solutions.

· Under the direction of the Operations Manager, ensures the Warehouse Operations team adheres to company policies and procedures.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Ability to work efficiently and maintain KPI’s and throughput on the shift.

- Must be able to perform all Operator tasks and commit to getting the job done.

- Must be able to spend a minimum of 85% of the workday on the floor and in the freezer.

- Operation of a forklift, reach truck, pallet jack, and other equipment as required.

- Must be willing and able to go through the training on the spotter truck and achieve certification.

- Ability to maintain a positive attitude and outlook.

- Ability to manage obstacles and challenges by delegating, assigning and reassigning tasks as needed.

- Flexibility is a requirement. If the shift needs to start earlier or end later based on business needs, you must be able to accommodate that need with or without prior notice.

- Availability to work overtime, weekends or alternate shifts as needed.

- Attention to detail, ensuring processes are thorough and tasks are completed accurately.

- Strong working knowledge of warehouse operations.

- Lead by example.

- Able to hold Forklift & Reach Truck Certification

- Able to work in high volume and tight turn environments without difficulty.

- Ability to read, write, and speak basic English for day-to-day business communication and documentation.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Proven ability to direct and coordinate shift operations.

- Must pass a pre-employment lift test.

- Must have a high school diploma or GED.

Physical Demands

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential functions for this position and meet the physical requirements needed to perform them, including but not limited to frequently requiring the ability to drive a forklift, sit, read, receive, and comprehend work instructions, communicate verbally, use close and distant vision, use hands to grasp, handle or feel objects and type and manipulate controls. All employees are required to stand, kneel, or crouch. While performing the essential functions of this job, employee is required to lift up to 70 lbs.

- Will be required to tolerate working environment with inside controlled temperatures up to -15 degrees Fahrenheit and outside ambient temperatures (including heat, cold, and precipitation)

- Must tolerate heights up to 55 ft. and be able to access elevated products from inside the safety cage

- Able to work long hours on one’s feet and perform physically demanding tasks

- Must transfer boxes weighing up to 55 lbs. from ground level to 60 inches in height and up 70 lbs. to 50 inches in height rebuilding pallets without team lift
