What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Environmental Lab Technician position at New England Bioassay?
New England Bioassay, Inc. (NEB), a leading woman-owned aquatic toxicity laboratory, is seeking a Seasonal Laboratory Technician to join our team. We are looking for either a full-time or part-time candidate. This temporary position begins in early July and runs through October.
Recent college graduates or current college students pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Marine Science, or a related field are encouraged to apply.
NEB performs aquatic toxicity testing on wastewater samples to help protect aquatic organisms and the environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Setting up and monitoring aquatic toxicity tests
- Performing wet chemistry analyses on wastewater samples
- Culturing and maintaining aquatic test organisms
- Recording and maintaining accurate laboratory data
- Following standard operating procedures and quality assurance protocols
Requirements:
- Background in environmental science, biology, marine science, or a related field preferred
- Willingness to participate in a rotating schedule for weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
- Good vision for counting small aquatic organisms
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move water samples
