Associate Director for Accreditation and School Improvement Job Summary The Associate Director for Accreditation and School Improvement will coordinate, oversee, and support the Association’s Accreditation process through engagement with school leaders, school visits, on-site school support, and related professional assistance activities. Additional responsibilities include development of policies, procedures, and protocol revisions, assisting with the planning of commission meetings, overseeing school accreditation visits, and conducting workshops, as well as providing support for schools implementing individual school improvement plans. The Associate Director for Accreditation and School Improvement will be assigned other NEASC-wide responsibilities in both accreditation and professional assistance capacities. Organizational Responsibilities The Associate Director for Accreditation and School Improvement is appointed by and ultimately responsible to the President/CEO of the Association. The Associate Director for Accreditation and School Improvement will report to the Director for Accreditation and School Improvement and the Chief Accreditation Officer depending on the particular responsibilities that are assigned. Duties/Responsibilities Oversees NEASC’s Accreditation Program - Informs and advises educational institutions about Association and Commission policies and procedures relative to the accreditation process through school visits and other means. (While a primary area of responsibility these duties are shared with other staff members at the direction of the Chief Accreditation Officer and the Directors for Accreditation and School Improvement.) - Works collaboratively to develop and revise accurate high-quality accreditation materials for school and visitor audiences - Develops, coordinates, and leads workshops for visiting team leaders, team members, schools, and school committees working on the accreditation process - Reviews accreditation reports and recommendations for accuracy and completeness and to ensure materials meet Association and Commission expectations - Builds and maintains relationships with a cohort of schools in order to guide and support those schools through the accreditation process and towards continual school improvement - Coordinates accreditations with partner agencies including operational planning and protocol and process development - Coordinates the selection of volunteers for accreditation teams - Identifies potential accreditation team leaders and team members; ensuring the appropriateness and availability of individuals who can effectively serve schools - Develops and undertakes the process of assessing team members - Prepares notification letters to ensure accuracy and consonance with Association and Commission actions and then supports schools as they follow through with the requests made by the Commission - Assists/participates in the review, revision, and development of Association and Commission policies and procedures - Responds to inquiries regarding the Association and the Commissions - Guides schools from candidacy to full membership in NEASC - Maintains communication with other members of the staff to ensure that the purposes of the Association and the Commissions are effectively fulfilled - Analyzes comments concerning the accreditation process from CEOs, team leaders, and team members as they relate to the Associate Director for Accreditation and School Improvement’s responsibilities - Serves as a resource to member schools about educational trends in New England and best practices as observed in member schools - Promotes NEASC as a thought leader in global education through speaking engagements, webinars, and article publications - Collaborates with the Directors for Accreditation and School Improvement and the NEASC administrative staff to identify opportunities to optimize accreditation processes - Identifies and follows up with new schools, school groups, and other business opportunities to promote NEASC growth Responsibilities Related to Commission Meetings - Assists in preparation and schedule for Commission meetings, making reviewer assignments and coordinating these activities with the assigned individuals - Attends Commission meetings and provides information about Commission and Association policies and procedures and specific institutional issues - Trains new Commissioners - Writes formal notification letters resulting from Commission meetings and serves as a resource to schools about Commission expectations - Leads generative work sessions of the Commission - Plans and co-leads summer workshop/conference, as assigned NEASC-wide Responsibilities - Performs NEASC-wide assignments as determined by the Chief Accreditation Officer in consultation with the Directors of Accreditation and School Improvement and the President/CEO - Collaborates with other NEASC staff to support and advance NEASC goals, objectives and initiatives - Keeps informed about issues in education and accreditation through a continuing review of the literature and attendance at the appropriate state, regional and national (or international) meetings - Promotes an appreciation for the value of peer review, continuous school improvement, and engagement in the NEASC accreditation process Required Skills/Abilities - Critical analytical skills - Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing - Strong interpersonal skills evidenced by the demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and work with various constituencies in achieving organizational goals. - Excellent organizational skills - Knowledge of change, improvement, and growth in educational organizations - Proficient with Microsoft Office and Office 365 applications, including databases, Word, SharePoint, and Teams - Ability to develop workshop curriculum and lead workshops, in person and remotely - Willingness to work with a broad range of educational institutions reflecting a range of educational pedagogy Education and Experience - Earned post-secondary degree in an appropriate field commensurate with the responsibilities of the position. - Professional experience in education - Educational leadership experience - Knowledge of and/or experience with the voluntary accreditation process Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional lifting of file boxes or meeting materials (up to 25 pounds). Salary and benefits are competitive with those of a school administrator and commensurate with experience.
