Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess strong experience working with children and youth (grades K-8), and skills necessary to lead and support educational, recreational, and wellness-based programming. Additionally, the ideal candidate should possess the following expertise, experience, and skills to successfully fulfill the duties and responsibilities outlined below:
Duties and Responsibilities
Academic Support:
- Provide homework assistance to support improved academic outcomes.
- Conduct individual and small group tutoring for students in grades K–8.
- Establish effective communication with schoolteachers and administrative staff to align support
strategies.
Enrichment & Recreational Programming:
- Plan and lead structured enrichment activities that support social-emotional and academic
growth. - Organize and implement fitness, cultural, and social activities tailored to participants' needs and
interests. - Utilize available materials, resources, and innovative strategies to enhance the learning
experience.
Child Supervision & Safety:
- Supervise children to ensure a safe, respectful, and engaging environment.
- Apply appropriate behavior management strategies and uphold Learning Center rules and
organizational values. - Know and apply emergency procedures and first aid as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free environment for all participants.
Family & Community Engagement:
- Interact with parents/guardians to provide updates on participant progress and promote continued
involvement. - Represent the organization at field trips, family events, and other special programs, including
occasional weekends.
Administrative Support:
- Plan, coordinate, and support Learning Center and Day Camp events and activities.
- Prepare and submit accurate weekly and monthly reports (e.g., Points of Contact, program logs).
- Develop and maintain monthly Activity Calendars.
- Input and manage data in internal systems (e.g., Apricot, Google Drive).
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and training.
- Follow NEW’s dress code and professional conduct
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
- Ability to daily pick-up, carry, and set-up delivered lunches/snacks for children at each center
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Organized, self-motivated, and detail oriented.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds or more
- Excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS office word, excel, access,
etc…)
Education and Experience
- High-School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required and 48 semester or 72
quarter units (course work must be certified as counting toward a baccalaureate degree. A copy
of diploma and/or degree will be requested, if hired. - One (1) year experience working with youth in teaching, tutoring or child care
Additional Requirements
- Must have access to reliable transportation provide proof of current California driver’s license,
acceptable driving record (current DMV H6 printout), and current liability auto insurance - Fingerprinting and TB Clearance
- Flexible with working hours, including evenings and weekend
Bilingual a plus
Salary : $22 - $24
