JOB SUMMARY:
The Mechanic position is an autonomous role requiring considerable time, effort, professionalism, independence, ingenuity, collaboration, efficiency, integrity, coordination, and determination. The individual who fills this role must be willing and able to fulfill the entire suite of duties, goals, and responsibilities of this position under daily guidance, direction and supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Highschool or equivalent degree.
- Recent tech school graduate considered.
- Experience:
- 1 year or more of experience working with modern diesel equipment including semi-trucks, semi-trailers, front-end loaders, and excavators.
- Experience with hydraulics a plus.
- Experience using modern diesel diagnostic computers and software to diagnose and perform repairs.
- Proficient in the use of diagnostic equipment including Diesel Laptops and Snap-on Pro-Link Edge a plus.
- Certificate/Licensure:
- Valid driver's license
- CDL Class A or B
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide services ranging from routine maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics.
- Service, maintain, and repair semi tractors, roll-off trucks, wheel loaders, and forklifts.
- Willing and able to service equipment in field like conditions (i.e. outdoors in all weather conditions).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Able to do some manual labor and lift 50lbs.
- Maintain communication with supervisors and team members.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to pass a drug test.
- Safe driving record.
- Other duties as assigned and relevant to position.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- General knowledge of the mechanical principles, practices and processes.
- Ability to use proper judgment or action in emergency or crisis situations.
- Ability to use personal protective equipment in compliance with OSHA exposure control program.
- Ability to work constructively with vendors and customers.
- General knowledge of office routines and functions is sufficient to refer visitors and telephone calls and to route correspondence.
- Knowledge of computer systems and applications; skill in gathering, analyzing and evaluating data.
- Ability to exercise initiative, apply and adapt policies, principles and techniques to solve everyday problems and deal with a variety of situations.
- Ability to develop short and long-term plans and programs and to evaluate work accomplishments.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with management staff, other employees, and the general public.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of business and personnel information.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime and/or weekends.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
100% - Operates in accordance with the Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements as well as all local, state and federal requirements, Customer and Company expectations for the Fleet department.
- Participates and cooperates in all scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as required by the Manager.
- Assist company drivers as directed.
- Notify Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime and/or weekends
