Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced BIM Manager with strong expertise in reality capture, drone operations, and construction layout technologies. This role will lead BIM/VDC initiatives while integrating field data collection—including LiDAR scanning, UAV (drone) mapping, and robotic total station layout—to ensure seamless alignment between digital models and on-site construction. The ideal candidate will drive innovation across digital and field workflows, improving accuracy, efficiency, and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

BIM Leadership & Management

  • Develop and enforce BIM standards, workflows, and execution plans
  • Structure and drive the BIM execution process
  • Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary BIM models (primarily structural, electrical and mechanical)
  • Participate in BIM coordination meetings with the general contractors and act as the focal point for BIM issues.
  • Work closely with project managers, superintendents, engineers, designers, and modellers
  • Present digital workflows, visualizations, and insights to stakeholders

Reality Capture & Site Scanning

  • Plan and execute 3D laser scanning (LiDAR) of project sites using Navvis VLX3
  • Process and register point cloud data for integration into BIM models
  • Validate as-built conditions and ensure model accuracy at critical project stages
  • Manage scan-to-BIM workflows and deliverables

Drone (UAV) Operations

  • Perform drone flights for site mapping, inspections, and progress tracking
  • Capture and process photogrammetry data into 2D/3D outputs (orthomosaics, meshes, terrain models)
  • Conduct volumetric analysis and site logistics visualization
  • Maintain FAA compliance and safety protocols

Construction Layout & Field Integration

  • Operate and manage robotic total stations, including Trimble layout systems
  • Translate BIM models into field-ready layout data for accurate installation
  • Coordinate digital layout workflows between office and field teams
  • Perform field verification, layout checks, and tolerance validation

Data Integration & Digital Delivery

  • Integrate BIM, scan data, drone imagery, and layout coordinates into a unified dataset
  • Support construction planning, sequencing, and progress reporting
  • Develop and support workflows for model-based estimating, procurement balance, kitting, prefabrication, logistics, and site analysis
  • Enforce BIM data and parameter standards to drive data integrity across software platforms and project phases
  • Be the in-house expert on Revit automation and model data extraction

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 5 years of BIM/VDC experience, including leadership roles
  • Hands-on experience with laser scanning and point cloud processing
  • Proven experience with drone operations in construction or surveying
  • Experience with robotic total stations and construction layout workflows
  • Proficiency in BIM software (Revit, Navisworks, Civil 3D)
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud or similar platforms
  • Strong understanding of construction methods and field operations

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of GIS and geospatial data integration
  • Experience with Dynamo, Python, or automation workflows
  • Experience with reality capture tools (Recap, Faro Scene, Pix4D, DroneDeploy)
  • Familiarity with Trimble hardware/software ecosystems (e.g., Trimble Layout, Trimble Field Link)
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification
