Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professionals (ILST, PCA, Respite Assistant) to support an older adult client in maintaining independence, safety, and quality of life at home. This role involves assisting with daily living tasks, meal preparation, mobility support, doctor's appointments, and participation in community activities.
The DSP will also help the client stay engaged with behavioral health treatment, therapy appointments, and social programs. This is a meaningful opportunity for someone who enjoys building supportive relationships and making a positive impact in the life of an older adult.

Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance for high fall risk.
- Complete grocery shopping with client, as needed.
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with care plan and dietary restrictions.
- Perform housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing to maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
- Drive, accompany, and assist client to doctor's appointments and errands, maintaining safe driving practices.
- Monitor patient health by observing client, reporting changes, and documenting care activities in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support medication management under supervision, including self-medication administration and adherence monitoring.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to client, fostering a positive environment.
- Assist with mobility using equipment, such as a walker.
- Follow individualized care plans developed by healthcare professionals or social workers.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times, including emergency procedures like CPR or first aid, if required.
Qualifications
- Experience working with older adults or individuals with mental health conditions preferred.
- Understanding of mobility safety and fall prevention.
- Ability to provide patient, supportive, and respectful care.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Must have valid CT driver's license with clean history
- Reliable transportation for grocery shopping and community outings (if required).
- Must have working cell phone to complete EVV for shifts.
- Must have High School diploma or GED.
- Certifications such as CPR, first aid, HIPAA compliance are highly desirable.
