Church Nursery Team Member

Position Summary
We are seeking reliable, caring, and professional Nursery Team Members to help provide a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment for children ages 6 weeks through Kindergarten. Nursery Team Members play an important role in supporting families and helping children experience God's love through age-appropriate care, activities, and Bible teaching.
Nursery Team Members will care for children at various developmental stages, including assisting with feeding, diapering, snack preparation, and other age-appropriate caregiving responsibilities.
This position requires individuals who are dependable and committed to their scheduled work hours. We are looking for team members who view this as a professional responsibility and can consistently fulfill their assigned shifts rather than working only when it is convenient. Applicants should only apply if they can reliably commit to the regular Sunday and Wednesday schedule, as ministry operations depend on staff being present and on time.
Regular Schedule
- Sundays: 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
- Wednesdays: 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Additional hours may occasionally be available for special church events that require childcare.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive and compassionate care for children ages 6 weeks through Kindergarten.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized nursery environment.
- Supervise children during play, activities, snack time, and transitions.
- Change diapers and assist young children with age-appropriate toileting needs while following church safety and hygiene procedures.
- Prepare bottles, mix formula according to parent instructions, and meet the feeding needs of infants.
- Prepare and serve simple, age-appropriate snacks while following allergy and food safety guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with nursery staff and ministry leaders.
- Teach or assist in teaching short, age-appropriate Bible lessons and curriculum.
- Communicate professionally and kindly with children, volunteers, and nursery staff.
- Follow church childcare policies and safety procedures.
- Assist with setup, cleanup, sanitizing toys and equipment, and organization of nursery spaces and materials.
- Take initiative to meet needs and support the team without waiting to be directed.
Qualifications
Preferred but not required:
- Childcare experience in a nursery, daycare, preschool, church, or similar setting.
- Child CPR certification.
Required qualities:
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to commit to the regular Sunday and Wednesday schedule.
- Comfortable teaching or assisting with Bible-based curriculum.
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
- Professional, proactive, and kind demeanor.
- Ability to engage children with patience and care.
- Supportive of the church's mission and values.
- Must be 18 years of age to apply.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry infants and young children as needed.
- Ability to sit on the floor, bend, kneel, and actively engage with children.
- Ability to remain attentive and active throughout scheduled shifts.
