What are the responsibilities and job description for the Small Engine & Automotive Mechanic position at New College of Florida?
This position is responsible for maintenance and repair of physical plant trades vehicles and repair of outdoor power equipment.,
- Emphasis is placed on performing preventative maintenance and repair of Grounds equipment and other Physical Plant trades vehicles.
- The vehicles include, but are not limited to; gas and electric carts, full size vans, ½ and ¾ ton pickup trucks.
- The equipment includes, but is not limited to; mowers, chain saws, blowers, line trimmers, edgers, hedge shears, tractor and tractor implements
- Should be proficient in trouble shooting, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems, use of a computerized maintenance management system, setting up a preventative maintenance schedule and proper use of all equipment repaired
- Designated as essential mission critical personnel
- Completion of the ninth grade. Possess a valid state of Florida driver’s license. Must obtain within six months of hire date a State of Florida, Department of Agriculture, Limited Lawn and Ornamental Pesticide Spray License
- Skill in operating a variety of grounds keeping maintenance equipment and tools.
- Ability to work with others and communicate effectively; and to follow written and verbal instructions.
