- Lead and manage a comprehensive program supporting student success in national and international competitions, including the Rhodes, Fulbright, Marshall, Gates Cambridge, Truman, Goldwater, Boren, and Gilman scholarships, among others
- Provide and oversee intensive, individualized advising and coaching for applicants, including essay development, interview preparation, and long-term candidate cultivation
- Establish a proactive pipeline for identifying and mentoring high-potential students early in their academic careers
- Recruit, cultivate, and support cohorts of high-achieving students engaged in interdisciplinary, co-curricular “High Impact Practices”
- Foster a collaborative culture of peer mentorship, intellectual ambition, and creative inquiry
- Guide students in translating academic work into competitive portfolios, including publications, research outputs, and fellowship-ready materials
- Design and teach one interdisciplinary course per semester focused on writing for prestigious scholarships and fellowships, such as “Writing for National Fellowships” or “Narrative Across Disciplines”
- Develop curricular and co-curricular programming that strengthens students’ abilities in critical thinking, narrative construction, and professional communication
- Develop and implement systems to support and enhance the quality and visibility of undergraduate theses across disciplines
- Help students integrate academic excellence with professional development, career readiness, and global engagement opportunities
- This position carries a concurrent Presidential Scholar appointment,
- Terminal degree in a relevant discipline
- Demonstrated success mentoring students for prestigious scholarships and fellowships
- Strong record of teaching excellence, particularly in writing, interdisciplinary studies, or honors education
- Experience in program development, student success initiatives, or honors education preferred
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills
