The Coordinator of Campus Recreation is a key leader within Campus Recreation, driving student engagement, wellness, and community through innovative recreation and fitness programs.  This role oversees daily operations, programming, and staffing of the Recreation Center, including recruitment, training, and development of student staff.  Additional responsibilities include event planning, facility management, safety compliance, and ensuring all programs meet institutional and industry standards.  The Coordinator also supports the Waterfront program and other Campus Recreation initiatives, fostering a collaborative, student focused environment that enhances the campus experience. 

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates student centered fitness, club sports, and outdoor recreational programming in alignment with departmental goals and student needs. This includes designing and leading fitness classes and wellness initiates, as well as training, supervising, and mentoring student staff and club leaders.  Actively supports and enhances the Campus Waterfront Program through collaboration, safety oversight, and skill building opportunities, while continuously assessing and improving program offerings. 
  • Schedules and supervises Campus Recreation student staff/OPS Pool Tech, oversees aquatics/fitness/sports facilities safety/operation/administration, routinely evaluates condition of and performs light maintenance on fitness/aquatics/sports equipment.
  • Manages administrative operations for aquatics/fitness/sports facilities/programs/staff management and ensuring compliance/efficient scheduling/high-quality services.  Builds strong partnerships with campus departments/vendors/community groups to enhance support and support student success.
  • Plans, facilitates, and supervises lifeguard/aquatic program activities/training/in-services/certifications/events/lifeguarding while maintaining high standards of quality/performance of all staff.  This will include actively lifeguarding at times and maintenance of aquatic facilities, including backwashing the pool.
  • Maintains accurate and appropriate records and data on all programs, events, and campus activities.  Including state DoH logs for maintaining an aquatics facility.
  • Serves on college committees as assigned, supports all Campus Life programming, assists with other campus events as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Experience in recreational programming such as fitness instruction, camp counseling, sports programming and/or other related experience. 
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university within 6 months of hire.
  • American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguard (within 6 months of hire)
  • Florida Department of Health Public Swimming Pool Technician (Within 6 Months of hire)
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • at least 1 years’, current nationally-recognized certification in group or individual fitness training, and recreational sports management. 
  • Current certified Lifeguard CPR/AED/FA Instructor.
