The Role
We are seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to join our growing Construction Management team. This position will support public works, water/wastewater, utilities, and facility improvement projects in San Diego County. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, an eye for detail, and a collaborative approach to working with owners, contractors, and design teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily on-site inspection of construction work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and contract requirements.
- Prepare detailed daily reports, photo documentation, and inspection logs.
- Verify quality of materials, workmanship, and adherence to safety standards.
- Review and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and pay applications.
- Coordinate with contractors, designers, and owner representatives to address field issues.
- Monitor construction schedules and assist with progress verification.
- Maintain accurate project records in accordance with agency and New City Consulting requirements.
Qualifications
- 8 years of construction inspection experience, preferably on public works or municipal projects.
- Strong knowledge of Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction (Greenbook), Caltrans, and local municipal standards.
- Experience with water/wastewater, utilities, roadway, and/or facility improvement projects.
- ICC, ACI, or other relevant inspection certifications preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and technical specifications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with inspection reporting software and MS Office Suite; Procore experience a plus.
- Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation.
