EHS Technical Trainer- Forklift

Position Summary

The Forklift Trainer is responsible for delivering training to powered industrial vehicle operators across the company to ensure compliance with OSHA requirements.

Reporting to the Technical Training Supervisor, the Forklift Trainer partners closely with Operations, Engineering, EHS, Shipping and Receiving, to facilitate classroom and hands-on training focused on powered industrial vehicles, evaluate employee competency, reinforce standard work practices, and support the successful onboarding and development of employees.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instructorled classroom training focused on powered industrial vehicle safety for both new hires and current employees approaching their certification expiration.
• Conduct on the job powered industrial vehicle operator assessments documenting them on a predetermined form to ensure skills meet expectations and classroom training.
• Reinforce standardized work practices and safe operating procedures with powered industrial trucks by conducting random regular audits of PIT operations.
• Issue, collect, review, file, and evaluate powered industrial vehicle inspection forms weekly.
• Manage and update the powered industrial vehicle operator tracker.
• Issue powered industrial vehicle certification cards to new and existing operators.
• Provide retraining to PIV operators involved in an accident or observed operating unsafely.
• Maintain accurate training records and ensure all completed training is documented within the Learning Management System (LMS).
• Ensure all training activities comply with OSHA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety standards, SOPs, and company policies.
• Report training completion, competency results, and employee progress to the Technical Training Supervisor.
• Training responsibilities will include all powered industrial vehicles including pallet movers, rider on pallet jacks, forklifts of various types, order pickers, scissor lifts, and aerial lifts as well as fall protection training required on some of these machines.
• Support special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 25 years of experience in manufacturing or warehouse environment utilizing forklifts or other powered industrial vehicles.
• Previous experience operating various forklifts or powered industrial vehicles.
• Previous experience delivering employee training, coaching, or mentoring is preferred.
• Experience in food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods (CPG) is preferred.
• Experience using a Learning Management System (Alchemy preferred) is a plus.

• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple training priorities.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to build positive working relationships across Operations, Engineering, EHS, Shipping, Receiving, and other departments.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in both office and manufacturing environments.
• Regular travel between Cibo Vita's Totowa facilities is required.
• Frequent time spent on the production floor conducting handson training, observing work processes, and evaluating employee performance.
• Must follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety, sanitation, and company safety policies at all times.
• Exposure to manufacturing environments including loud noise, moving machinery, elevated platforms, temperature variations, and other industrial conditions while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to stand, walk, demonstrate work processes, and conduct training for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Willingness to maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification and respond as a trained first responder when necessary.
