TITLE: Reading Interventionist
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Primary certification as established by Education Professional Standards Board with minimum of three (3) years teaching experience, with preference given to experience and/or endorsements in reading/literacy.
- Completion of training requirements upon hiring as specified by the Kentucky Department of Education and the Henry County School District
REPORTS TO: Principal/Chief Academic Officer
SUPERVISES: N/A
JOB GOALS: To oversee and implement reading intervention services and teacher training as outlined in the Read to Achieve grant.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in appropriate professional development as need to implement the Read to Achieve grant
- Administer appropriate assessments and work with the Response to Intervention team to identify students for interventions
- Provide direct intervention services according to district and grant guidelines
- Monitor the academic progress of each student receiving intervention services as outlined by the district and grant plans
- Collaborate with the assigned regular classroom teacher(s) to implement appropriate reading strategies within his/her core reading instruction time
- Provide professional development to full elementary staff on effective reading strategies as outlined in the grant plan
- Communicates with parents, other teachers, instructional assistants, and supervisors as necessary to implement the grant plan
- Performs other professional tasks (within reason) as may be assigned by the principal or the superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Superintendent and the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
