The New Castle Career Center is seeking a qualified Substitute Teacher for the Veterinary Science Program from April 6 to May 22, 2026. This position supports both first- and second-year students and ensures instructional continuity during the instructor’s absence.
Responsibilities Include
- Grading homework, quizzes, and tests
- Communicating with Work-Based Learning (WBL) students via Remind for attendance
- Inputting daily attendance
- Distributing lessons and instructional materials
- Distributing and grading final examinations
- Teaching resume and cover letter writing
- Monitoring student progress on online assignments
- Overseeing first-year student internships:
- Verifying student attendance at internship sites
- Collecting required paperwork upon return
- Facilitating certification test preparation (materials provided)
- Grading WBL internship work using the provided rubrics
- Collecting and reviewing Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA) certification applications for completeness and accuracy
- Submit completed CVA applications at least two weeks prior to the testing date
- Valid Indiana Substitute Teacher Permit (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience in veterinary science, animal care, or agricultural education preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple student groups and maintain accurate records
