Established in 2023, New Carrot Company, operating under the name Bolthouse Fresh Foods, is headquartered in the California Central Valley community of Bakersfield. Specializing in carrot production, the company caters to both retail and food service operations and is renowned for its Bolthouse Farms brand, widely distributed in major retailers across the United States and Canada.
Bolthouse Fresh Foods is a subsidiary of Butterfly Equity, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm with a specialty in the food sector. Butterfly Equity's expertise spans the entire food value chain, from 'seed to fork,' with a focus on agriculture & aquaculture, food & beverage products, food distribution, and foodservice.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
The director of quality will support the organization in driving the development and implementation of quality and food safety programs that support the various functions of the organization.
JOB DUTIES:
- Develop staff and organization for quality assurance
- Manage team of quality managers
- Develop quality and food safety policy with senior management team
- Collaborate with cross functionally with Bolthouse Fresh Foods senior management to achieve food safety and quality objectives
- Develop, manage and implement processes for quality data collection, analysis and visualization
- Partner with operations and sales to approve and/or provide recommendations on product specification deviations
- Utilize quality data to provide recommendations on internal and/or external specifications
- Support the development and maintenance of food quality policies across company owned and contract facilities
- Manage an implement applicable FSMA and regulatory procedures
- Manage and implement applicable quality procedures
- Evaluate and report on company food safety compliance
- Evaluate and report on company quality performance
- Develop and implement training for operations leadership and line personnel to ensure compliance to our internal and external food safety and quality programs
- Attend continuing education classes in food safety, GMP, food microbiology and HACCP
- Active participation in trade associations and regulatory associations to stay current with regulatory issues and policies
- Collaborate with senior management
- Perform other duties as assigned
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following areas: Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology or related area. Equivalent experience in a related field can be substituted for education.
- Valid California Driver’s License
- 6-9 years of industry related experience with progressive quality, consumer and regulatory program design, implementation and management
- Valid Driver License and clean driving record
Required Skills And Abilities:
- Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented
- Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand
- Good to excellent grammar and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Food Science or a related field
