What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Counselor - Camp Mini position at NEW CANAAN COMMUNITY YMCA, INC.?
Camp Mini is a half-day day camp program for children age 3 to 5.
Taking place on-site at the New Canaan YMCA, Camp Mini provides a camp experience for our youngest campers, allowing them to participate in activities such as Arts & Crafts, Swim Lessons and Free Swim, Sports and Games, and other recreation both inside and out.
We are looking for Head Counselors to help oversee small groups of campers and to mentor general counselors in providing a safe and fun experience for all involved.
Head Counselors should have previous experience working with young children, either in camp environments or after-school programs. We are looking for positive attitudes, a team-based philosophy, and lots of energy to keep the activities flowing smoothly.
Camp Mini operates from late June through mid-August, Monday to Friday from 8am to 1:30pm, which is a great opportunity for staff who still want to have their afternoons free for other things! Or, we do offer extended day options for campers, so staff who wish to work additional hours, can help with the extended day programs.
There will be mandatory orientation dates prior to camp starting, dates will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age or had completed at least one semester of college.
- Previous camp experience and/or related experience with children are necessary.
Salary : $19 - $20
