Role Description
The Payroll Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Brooklyn, NY. This position is focused entirely on managing external client compliance, handling end-to-end payroll processing and tax filings for a diverse portfolio of business clients.
Day-to-day tasks include:
- Verifying client payroll data and calculating wages to ensure timely, accurate client payroll runs.
- Preparing and filing federal, state, and local taxes on behalf of clients, including Form 940, Form 941, and NYS-45.
- Managing year-end reporting, including the comprehensive preparation, verification, and filing of Form W-2 for all business clients.
- Managing client sales tax filings and processing garnishments.
- Resolving payroll discrepancies and directly addressing client inquiries regarding tax compliance and wage deductions.
Qualifications
- Language Skills: Fluency in both English and Urdu to effectively communicate with our diverse business client base.
- Multi-Client Experience: Extensive experience managing payroll processing and compliance for multiple external business clients simultaneously.
- Tax Filing Expertise: Direct, hands-on experience preparing and filing client tax returns, specifically Form 940, Form 941, NYS-45, annual W-2s, and various sales tax returns.
- Software Proficiency: High proficiency with CFS Payroll System or other major multi-client payroll software, spreadsheets, and accounting applications.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong numerical and analytical skills alongside a deep knowledge of federal, New York State, and local payroll regulations.
- Deductions & Garnishments: Experience handling garnishments and other statutory deductions with high accuracy and strict confidentiality.
- Efficiency & Detail: Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational habits, and the ability to manage strict tax deadlines in a high-volume client environment.
- Education: An associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred.
