Position Summary
The CNA supports the nursing and medical team by assisting with basic patient care and clinic operations. The CNA helps ensure safe patient flow, accurate collection of vital signs, room readiness, and patient support in a respectful, trauma-informed manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with patient flow: greet, escort, room, and support patients during clinic visits
- Obtain and document vital signs per protocol (BP, pulse, temperature, weight, etc.)
- Prepare exam/med rooms and maintain supply levels; perform room turnover and cleaning per infection-control procedures
- Support urine toxicology/specimen workflows as assigned (e.g., labeling support, transport steps, chain-of-custody procedures)
- Observe patient condition and promptly report concerns to the nurse (e.g., dizziness, sedation, agitation, withdrawal symptoms)
- Support documentation tasks as assigned (scanning, forms, tracking logs)
- Maintain HIPAA privacy and follow all safety policies, including incident reporting
- Provide calm, respectful support using de-escalation and trauma-informed approaches
Required Qualifications
- Active New Jersey CNA certification (in good standing)
- Current CPR/BLS
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Comfortable working in behavioral health/SUD settings with a nonjudgmental, professional approach
- Basic computer skills (EHR experience a plus)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in outpatient clinics, OTP/SUD programs, or community health
- Familiarity with infection control and specimen handling workflows
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Flexibility with a consistent morning schedule
