Minimum Qualifications:
- Current paramedic license in the State of Connecticut, or
- National Registry Paramedic (NRP) with Connecticut licensure application in progress
- Candidates within three (3) months of completing paramedic program final testing are encouraged to apply
Position Overview:
This is an hourly, non-exempt, full-time position. NBEMS operates a progressive, high-performance EMS system that responds exclusively to 911 calls. Ambulances are deployed from a centralized base.

Basic Function:
The paramedic is responsible for providing pre-hospital emergency care, advanced life support (ALS), and medical transportation services. This role includes:
- Delivering high-quality patient care in emergency and non-emergency situations
- Providing clinical oversight on scene when an EMS line officer is not present
- Directing EMT personnel and coordinating with co-responders
- Supporting public health education and community engagement efforts
Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year of related experience preferred.
Education:
- High school diploma and post-secondary vocational training.
- Associate’s in emergency medical services or an allied health profession preferred.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Current Connecticut licensure as a paramedic.
- National Registry certification at the paramedic level is preferred.
- Current AHA BCLS Healthcare Provider.
- Current AHA ACLS Provider.
- Current AHA PALS Provider.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Certification in PHTLS, BTLS, or Critical Trauma Care at an advanced level is desirable.
- ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 certifications desirable.
- Current medical command authorization for paramedic practice desirable.
