What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMS Educator position at New Britain Emergency Medical Services?
New Britain EMS is seeking a per diem EMS educator to join our Community Education team. The EMS educator is an experienced provider who will work under the direction of the primary instructor and the Lieutenant of Training and Education.
This role involves delivering engaging instruction across various EMS education programs, including EMR, EMT, and AHA curricula, as well as refresher and continuing education courses.
As a member of our EMS education team, you will provide direct student support through academic coaching, remediation, and performance assessments. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: developing and delivering interactive lectures under the guidance of the primary instructor, instructing hands-on skills labs, and incorporating simulation-based learning.
This is a per diem position, primarily scheduled on weekdays, although it may include occasional evenings and weekends. Current CT EMS-I certification is preferred, but the candidate must be willing to obtain certification within the first year. Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years EMS experience.
- Two (2) years of active field experience at the EMT level or above
Education:
- High school diploma and post-secondary vocational training.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Certifications/Licenses:
- Current Connecticut certification as an EMT or paramedic licensure
- Current Connecticut EMS-Instructor preferred.
- Current AHA Instructor preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
