The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) Facilitator is responsible for providing direct support to clients participating in behavioral health treatment services. The BHT facilitates psychoeducational and recovery-focused groups using an approved curriculum, monitors client behavior and participation, documents services accurately, assists with crisis intervention when necessary, and promotes a safe, respectful, and therapeutic treatment environment. The BHT works under the supervision of licensed clinical staff and within the scope of Arizona regulations and agency policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate scheduled psychoeducational, life skills, and recovery support groups using the clinic's approved curriculum.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment during all programming.
- Monitor client attendance, participation, and behavior throughout treatment services.
- Encourage client engagement while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Assist clients in developing healthy coping skills, communication skills, relapse prevention strategies, and daily living skills.
- Observe and report significant behavioral or emotional changes to clinical staff immediately.
- Assist with client orientation, program expectations, and clinic policies.
- Complete accurate, timely, and compliant documentation, including:
- Daily progress notes
- Group attendance
- Incident reports
- Client observations
- Other required clinical documentation
- Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques while following agency policy.
- Coordinate with Case Managers, Counselors, Medical Providers, and other treatment team members.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
- Assist with drug screening procedures as assigned.
- Prepare group rooms and treatment materials before scheduled sessions.
- Monitor facility safety and immediately report hazards or concerns.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and clinical supervision.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
