What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Cottage Manager position at New Boces?
The job of Assistant5HVLGHQWLDO Manager was established for the purpose/s of organizing and coordinating a comprehensive, safe, and homelike residential program for students; and supervising and training cottage aides, and maintaining communication with parents, staff, teachers and administration on residential activities.
Essential Functions
Administers appropriate application of policies and procedures regarding time-out and seclusion of students for the purpose of ensuring estabslihed school guidelines are adhered to.
• Administers first aid and prescription medication (under the direction of a health care professional) for the purpose of providing emergency and necessary care in compliance with established guidelines.
• Applies proper techniques when moving passengers who require lifting, transferring and/or physical assistance for the purpose of ensuring students are not injured.
• Approves staff leave and trade requests for residential personnel and advises administration of personnel absences for the purpose of ensuring the proper number of personnel are on the job and pay records reflect the correct number of hours.
• Assists with personnel functions (e.g. recruitment, hiring, evaluations, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel and ensuring that objectives of N.E.W. B.O.C.E.S. residential programs are achieved . •
• Cleans assigned facilities (e.g. residential areas) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment.
• Collaborates with N.E.W. B.O.C.E.S. staff for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs. Communicates with parents, staff, school personnel, and cottage aides for the purpose of ensuring all students are taken care of appropriately and all programs are run according the established guidelines.
• Coordinates cottage activities and weekend programs for the purpose of delivering services which conform to established guidelines. • Drives school vehicles for the purpose of transporting N.E.W. B.O.C.E.S. students over scheduled routes to and from school and/or field trips in a safe and timely manner.
• Guides N.E.W. B.O.C.E.S. students in completing their work/behavior goals (e.g. personal interactions, daily work tasks, personal hygiene, etc.) for the purpose of improving their social skills, behaviors and their recreational/leisure actvities.
• Implements assigned programs and/or projects for the purpose of conforming to N.E.W. B.O.C.E.S. curriculum and/or instructional objectives.
• Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records (e.g. subtitute lists, individual student records, employee records, logs, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
• Maintains substitute lists and calls subs when necessary for the purpose of ensuring the correct number of aides are available in the residential buildings on all shifts. •
• Maintains supplies and forms for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring the availability of required items. Monitors N.E.W. B.O.C.E.S. residential program activities for the purpose of coordinating activities and ensuring compliance with established legal and/or administrative requirements
Participates in a variety of meetings (e.g. building meetings parent meetings, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
• Possesses a knowledge of student behavior plans, tranportation plans and medical concerns. for the purpose of ensuring students remain safe and IEP goals and objectives are reinforced.
• Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.g. substitute lists, student activities, correspondence, leave requests, trade time requests, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information. •
• Removes snow for the purpose of ensuring sidewalks and entry ways are safe for people to travel on.
• Reports incidents for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students and providing a positive learning environment. Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
• Schedules residential staff and fills in when substitutes are unavailable for the purpose of ensuring adequate supervision is available in the residential areas. •
• Serves as an on-call worker for the purpose of resolving emergency situations that might arise after hours and on the weekends. Serves as liaison between residential services, food service director, family, home school districts and interagencies for the purpose of conveying and gathering information and to ensure cottages have adequate nutritious food, the staff is following the menus, food is stored correctly and accurate inventory is maintained.
• Supervises and trains personnel as assigned (e.g. cottage aides, etc.) for the purpose of maxilmizing the efficiency of the work force and evaluating their performance
Experience
Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
