New Bern Golf & Country Club, an established private club located along the scenic Trent River, is seeking a Golf Shop Manager to join our golf operations team. This position plays a key role in delivering an exceptional member and guest experience through professional golf shop operations, merchandising excellence, and daily coordination with the golf professional staff.
Position Overview
The Golf Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of golf shop operations, including merchandising, inventory management, retail presentation, and member service. This individual will work closely with the Head Golf Professional and Assistant Professionals to ensure smooth daily operations, accurate accounting, and a welcoming retail environment consistent with the standards of New Bern Golf & Country Club.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the golf shop, ensuring exceptional service to members and guests.
- Maintain a professional and engaging retail atmosphere that reflects the club's brand and seasonal needs.
- Coordinate and manage special orders, logo merchandise, and vendor relationships.
- Receive, price, and display merchandise; ensure timely and accurate invoicing and inventory entry.
- Oversee monthly inventory counts and reconcile with accounting.
- Work directly with the Head Professional to develop and execute annual merchandising plans, seasonal buys, and sales promotions.
- Manage the point-of-sale system and ensure accurate recording of all transactions.
- Assist with tournament prize distribution and retail-related aspects of golf events.
- Support the golf professional staff with daily tee sheet operations, member communication, and locker assignments as needed.
- Ensure the golf shop is consistently clean, organized, and staffed appropriately.
- Maintain knowledge of current retail trends, golf industry products, and member preferences.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in golf shop or retail management, preferably in a private club or resort environment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with an eye for detail.
- Proficiency with POS and inventory management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to provide first-class service and build member relationships.
- Professional demeanor and appearance consistent with club standards.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, during peak season.
Compensation & Benefits
