Position Title: Awake Night
Program: Shelter
Reports To: Program Coordinator
Classification: Non-Exempt
Job Summary:
The general functions and responsibilities of this position are to see to the security and needs of the shelter and its residents during the overnight hours.
Essential Job Functions:
a. Conduct periodic checks to be sure that the Shelter is secure, and residents are safe during the overnight hours.
b. Be responsible for doing the laundry and other household duties, including cleaning and light maintenance.
c. Assist with the waking of residents and preparation for the day.
d. Be responsible for all intakes and/or discharges that occur during shift e. Completion of the maintenance and safety checklist, reporting any issues to the Program Coordinator
f. Responsible for dispensing morning medications, checking medication counts and completing monthly medication administration records.
g. Reviewing resident files for completeness and accuracy h. Clerical tasks that support shelter staff, i.e. preparing intake folders and daily paperwork, photocopying needed forms and providing up-to-date information for all current residents
i. Assist in food preparation according to menus or as requested by other staff or supervisors.
j. Assesses and manages crisis situations and behavioral issues.
k. Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor, Program Coordinator or Program Director
Specifications and Qualifications:
Education and Training:
Mature adult with at least a High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience with youth in crisis or in a residential setting preferred.
Cognitive Requirements:
Good problem-solving skills; literacy and general knowledge on at least a high school graduate level.
Physical Requirements:
Strength and dexterity to do basic household maintenance; ability to climb stairs.
