Position Summary
The Director of Academic Progress (DAP) serves to offer a comprehensive counseling service that supports students' academic and career development, aiming to enhance student achievement and success after graduation.
Key Responsibilities
Support NBHS by attending community service and outreach activities.
Monitor adherence to school policies and procedures before, during and after school.
Provide excellent customer service.
Assist with recruitment and retention of students and staff.
Attend school related functions and meetings.
Implement federal, state and local mandates.
Facilitate the successful progression of students throughout the system (to include but not limited to entering data into multiple student information systems, communicating with students, families and staff about academic and graduation status, and assisting with placement of the appropriate academic resources).
Develop and maintain a written plan for effective execution of academic services for each student annually.
Spearhead campus Retention Check In (RCI) Process by retrieving, monitoring, documenting, and verifying the count of customer attendance.
Communicate departmental goals to all stakeholders.
Provide direct services that support guidance curriculum, individual planning, and preventive and responsive processes.
Supervise direct reports.
Serve as second-in-command on the campus leadership team.
Refer students as appropriate.
Support school Mission by assisting with home visits.
Conduct annual review and propose appropriate updates to the DAP Reference & Procedures Manual.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (Master’s degree in Guidance & Counseling preferred)
Valid Florida Educator’s Certificate
A minimum of 3 years experience working with youth in an educational and/or non-profit capacity
A minimum of 3 years prior work experience applying principles and practice of counseling; development, physical, social/emotional needs and abilities of students from diverse backgrounds
Prior experience evaluating educational/academic outcomes of youth
Knowledge experience of Student Information Systems and hardware process applications such as spreadsheets, word-processing, database and operating systems and/or presentation software
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Background check and fingerprinting clearance
Knowledge and ability to operate standard office equipment
Valid Florida driver's license, reliable transportation and valid automobile insurance

Physical Environment
Requires some sitting and standing, walking and moving about to coordinate work. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and/or teams, students, internal and external contacts, and the public. Requires working indoors with some outdoors work, for community and school activities. Requires sitting for the majority of the day, and ability to lift, carry, move, and/or position objects weighing up to 50 pounds. This position may serve multiple campuses and require travel.
