SummarySupport position working under the direction of the Head Teacher to implement high-quality early childhood education programs aligned with Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS). Assist in creating and maintaining a developmentally appropriate learning environment that promotes social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development for preschool-aged children.DutiesClassroom SupportAssist Head Teacher in implementing daily activities and lessonsHelp prepare and maintain learning centers and classroom materialsSupport children's engagement in planned activitiesAssist with classroom transitions and routinesHelp supervise children during indoor and outdoor playSupport implementation of CT ELDS in daily activitiesParticipate in small group instruction under Head Teacher's guidanceAssist with classroom organization and material preparationStudent Care and DevelopmentSupport children's social-emotional developmentAssist children with self-help skills and personal care routinesHelp children develop positive social interactions and problem-solving skillsSupport development of fine and gross motor skillsAssist with mealtime routines and promote healthy eating habitsHelp children with handwashing and other health practicesSupport toilet training efforts in partnership with familiesGuide children in cleaning up and organizing materialsHealth and SafetyMaintain clean and sanitized learning environmentsFollow proper health and safety protocolsAssist with daily health checksHelp maintain safe indoor and outdoor environmentsFollow proper procedures for diapering and toiletingAssist with proper food handling and cleaning during meals and snacksSupport implementation of safety rules and proceduresReport safety concerns to Head Teacher or administrationDocumentation and CommunicationAssist with daily documentation of children's activitiesHelp maintain attendance recordsSupport DOTS assessment system documentationCommunicate daily activities to families at pickup/drop-offShare observations of children's development with Head TeacherMaintain confidentiality regarding children and familiesDocument accidents or incidents as requiredAssist with preparation of materials for family conferencesRequirementsAssociate degree in Early Childhood Education, ORAssociate degree in any field plus OEC's 12 DEFINED foundational Early Childhood Education credits, ORAssociate degree in any field plus any 12 Early Childhood credits ORCurrently enrolled and actively working toward a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education with approved plan of study and completing at least 9 credits per academic yearHigh energy.Ability to work well with others.Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills. A strong understanding of child development.Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.Must clear full background check.
