What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Specialist position at New Beginnings Behavior Intervention Services?
Duties:
- Provide direct care and support to Individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
- Assist Individuals with daily living activities, functional living skills, and meaningful community activities
- Implement trained behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and ensure the safety of the individual and others in the environment
- Maintain accurate documentation of the Individual's progress and any reportable incidents that occur
- Respect and uphold Individual rights and confidentiality, following HIPAA guidelines
- Collaborate with a team of professionals, including Case Managers, Behavior Consultants, OT, PT, ST, and any other professionals to provide comprehensive care
Experience:
- Previous experience working with children and/or adults with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities is preferred
- Certification as a Registered Behavior Technician or Behavior Technician experience highly preferred
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed to assist Individuals with mobility or transfers
-Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, and have the ability to pass criminal background checks, TB tests, and complete CPR certification (if you don't have it already).
-Pay rate is dependent upon years of experience.
