Direct Support Professional (DSP) 3pm-12am

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential support to individuals with disabilities, including those with autism. This role involves assisting clients with daily living activities, promoting their independence, and enhancing their quality of life through personalized care and engagement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in caregiving, memory care, and social work, along with a passion for helping others.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
• Provide companionship and engage clients in social activities to promote mental well-being.
• Support individuals with memory care needs by implementing strategies to enhance cognitive function.
• Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and preferences.
• Document client progress and report any changes in behavior or health to the appropriate personnel.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to ensure comprehensive care.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for clients at all times.
• Assist clients in developing life skills that promote independence and self-sufficiency.

Requirements

• Experience in caregiving or direct support roles is preferred; experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum is a plus.
• Knowledge of memory care techniques and meal preparation skills is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• A background in social work, home health, or nursing is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Must possess patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others improve their lives.
• Flexibility to work various shifts as needed to accommodate client schedules.

Qualifications

• The employee must also have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Knowledge of the medical field and terminology which includes working directly with doctors, nurses, therapists, and pharmacists
• Demonstrates organizational and problem solving skills
• Ability to be flexible
• Completion of TOVA, First Aid and CPR, Medication Management, Human Rights/ID Waiver, Emergency Preparedness, Person Centered Thinking upon hire
• Knowledge of regulatory agency Standards such as DBHDS and DMAS
• Personal protective equipment provided or required
