Draftsman

Impact Housing, a B2B manufacturer of residential modular homes, is looking to hire a Draftsman to support all design and estimating functions at its facility in Baxley, GA. The candidate will create and maintain all drawings and subsequent documents specific to the modular business. A deep understanding of all federal, state, and local building codes pertaining to modular construction will be imperative to the role. The candidate will team up with functional owners: General Manager, Operations Manager, and Purchasing Manager to support continuous improvements towards the strategic and operational objectives set by the Managing Director.

Responsibilities

• Create new concept drawings for prospective business while maintaining and updating existing plans including but not limited to shop drawings.
• Be responsible for estimating the quantities of materials (BOM) within direct relation to the finished drawings/design for costing, purchasing, and construction.
• Responsible for proper design of finish product with an ongoing understanding of electrical, plumbing, framing, HVAC, structural calcs, codes, wind loads, etc.
• Work hand in hand with Quality Control, state inspectors, and management team to ensure drawings accuracy. Responsible for all dimensional calculations, material specifications, and process orientation.
• Manage all outside engineering relationships including the plant’s third-party agency (HWC).

Requirements

• Drafting and design diploma or equivalent experience
• 2-3 years of general drafting/estimating experience in a residential modular construction environment strongly preferred. Hud/Manufactured Housing and/or Commercial Modular relevant experience acceptable.
• Must be able to use current release of the computer aided drafting (CAD) software, AutoCAD or equivalent.
• Excellent written, verbal communications and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
• Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Compensation / Benefits

• Competitive industry salary depending on experience. Full-time. 40 hours / week.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
