New Approaches Mental Health Services (NAMHS) is seeking full-time and part-time Mental Health Specialist to work with clients and their families in Iberia, St. Martin, St. Landry, Lafayette, St. Mary, and Vermilion Parishes. An MHS works with clients providing psychosocial rehabilitation and therapy relating to the client's diagnosis. Potential candidates must be driven, able to work independently, flexible, willing to work evenings and weekends, and willing to travel. A Bachelors degree in Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Rehabilitation Services, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Secondary Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, Human Growth and Development, Criminal Justice, or Social Work is required. RELIABLE transportation is required for this position. Must be able to pass background check and drug test.

Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a hospital or mental health setting is preferred
- Knowledge of direct support techniques for individuals with mental health challenges
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information
- Experience working with children is a plus
- Ability to effectively communicate and build rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds

Responsibilities
- Provide behavioral therapy and mental health counseling, utilizing techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and support.
- Engage in crisis intervention as needed, addressing immediate mental health concerns effectively.
Pay: From $23.00 per hour
