Hours: Monday thru Thursday 8:30am-3:00pm
Background: The New American Association of Massachusetts (NAAM) is a non-profit organization that provides social support services to refugees and immigrants in northeastern Massachusetts. Core services include: ESOL and literacy classes, employment, case management, citizenship, youth programming, wellness, and more. The Teen Employment Supervisor leads and supports our Summer Teen Staff team, who work closely with immigrant and refugee children and youth. This supervisory role ensures teen staff are supported, motivated, and empowered to foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for younger participants. As a mentor and coordinator, the supervisor helps teen staff develop leadership skills and oversees the smooth delivery of program activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support Summer Teen Staff in facilitating daily activities including academic enrichment, social-emotional learning, recreation, and cultural activities.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to teen staff to help them grow as leaders and positive role models.
- Oversee teen staff attendance, punctuality, engagement, and adherence to program policies.
- Assist in coordinating logistics and smooth transitions during classroom activities, meals, outdoor play, and field trips.
- Foster an inclusive program culture that respects and celebrates diverse cultures and languages.
- Communicate regularly with program staff, teen staff, students, and families.
- Lead or coordinate professional development and training sessions for teen staff focused on leadership, workforce skills, and personal growth.
- Support problem-solving and conflict management among teen staff and participants.
- Participate in pre- and post-program meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications
- Experience in youth development, education, or related fields. Bachelors’ Degree Preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with teens and/or immigrant and refugee communities a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and support a diverse team.
- Reliable, punctual, and proactive problem solver.
- Commitment to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
- Must undergo a CORI Background Check.
