Summer Grounds Maintenance Worker

Dates: 6/1/2026- 8/14/2026
8 hours/day; first shift or as otherwise scheduled to meet work demands

JOB PURPOSE
Under general supervision, the Summer Grounds Maintenance Worker is responsible to perform a variety of unskilled tasks such as mowing, trimming, painting etc.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

• Perform manual labor across school campus
• Provide grounds care across campus as assigned
• Responsible for waste removal  
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.

 
QUALIFICATIONS/PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS

• High school diploma or equivalent unless otherwise agreed by the administration.
• Previous successful experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, or similar field.  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

• Knowledge of general landscaping
• Ability to learn how to use all equipment as well and clean/maintain equipment after each use
• Ability to follow instructions
• Ability to do physical labor daily mainly outdoors

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students or employees of the district.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

• Position is mainly outdoors.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and stand. Occasionally the employee will sit and/or run.
• The employee will frequently bend or twist at the trunk while performing the duties of this job.
• The employee will frequently climb, squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head, reach forward and repeat the same hand motion many times while performing the duties of the job.
• The employee will routinely lift and move objects weighing at least 50 lbs or more.
• The employee must have the ability to work in school environment, including extreme variations in temperatures and to operate varied technologies and equipment.
• The specific vision requirements of the job include good depth perception and occasionally being able to see objects/persons at a distance.
• While performing the duties of the job the employee frequently is required to hear conversation in quiet, as well as, a noisy environment and be able to tell where a sound is coming from.
• The employee must be able to communicate to the team in order to provide information or give directions.
