Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support to clients dealing with addiction and mental health issues.
- Conduct assessments to identify client needs and develop personalized support plans.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage positive behavioral changes.
- Facilitate crisis intervention sessions when necessary, ensuring client safety and well-being.
- Mentor clients through their recovery process, offering guidance and resources.
- Collaborate with other professionals in the field, including social workers and mental health counselors, to provide comprehensive care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in behavioral health.
Requirements
- A background in addiction counseling or mental health counseling is preferred.
- Experience in crisis management and crisis intervention techniques is highly desirable.
- Strong mentoring skills with the ability to motivate and inspire clients.
- Knowledge of behavioral health systems and RESOURCES available for clients.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
- Peer Support Specialist certification.
- A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions.
