Essential Functions
- Clean patient rooms nursing stations, surgical areas, administrative areas, lab, waiting areas and rest rooms.
- Launder some hospital and long term care linens. Prepare the linens that are to be sent to the contracted laundry service.
- Wipe down equipment, clean furniture, polish floors and vacuum carpets.
- Make beds, empty trash and collect dirty laundry.
- Follow safety guidelines for chemical use in the facility.
- Follow guidelines for hazardous materials handling.
- Follow procedures and protocols for proper sanitization per regulation standards regarding body fluids and contagions to prevent contamination.
- Respond to emergencies in relation to cleaning hospital environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels.
- The ability to maintain an open mind to the acquisition of new skills and knowledge while on the job, especially the use of chemicals and understanding of basic safety procedures.
- Ability to perform simple mathematical equations.
- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Mathematical skills needed to mix cleaning agents appropriately in accordance with the prescription of the manufacturer
- Exposure to distressed patients, families or visitors.
- Possible exposure to inside environmental conditions.
- Requires standing, sitting or walking for up to 8 hours or longer per day.
- The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Housekeeping experience.
