We’re a high-save organization helping nearly 34,000 animals in our community each year and caring for approximately 10,000 across both of our campuses. through sheltering, adoptions and community-centered programs and services that help find pets loving homes and keep them there. We are seeking a Facilities Support Technician to join our team at our Reno Campus. In this role, you’ll provide daily care, support positive outcomes, and help match pets with the families who will love them for life.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Facilities Support Technician, you contribute to Nevada Humane Society’s (NHS) mission by maintaining a clean, safe, organized, well-stocked, and professionally presented shelter environment. Your work supports exceptional animal care, positive visitor experiences, and efficient daily operations while reflecting our commitment to care for pets, find them homes, and save lives.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Our Facilities Support Technician plays an important role in advancing Nevada Humane Society’s mission

Position-Specific Responsibilities

  1. Ensure the cleanliness, sanitation, organization, and professional appearance of shelter facilities, grounds, common areas, and fleet vehicles in accordance with organizational standards and procedures.
  2. Maintain facility supplies, inventory, storage areas, and donated goods through receiving, stocking, organizing, distributing, and monitoring inventory levels.
  3. Perform general maintenance requests as they are directed by department leadership or the CEO.
  4. Conduct routine inspections of facilities, grounds, equipment, supplies, and fleet vehicles and promptly report conditions that may impact safety, cleanliness, functionality, or operational readiness.
  5. Maintain shelter fleet vehicles in a clean, organized, fueled, stocked, and operationally ready condition to support safe and effective use at all times, and promptly report maintenance, safety, or operational concerns to the appropriate manager.
  6. Assist with operational support activities, including event support, donation management, special projects, emergency response, and other assigned shelter functions.
  7. Safely operate company vehicles to transport supplies, donations, equipment, materials, and personnel in support of shelter operations.
  8. Safely operate assigned equipment, tools, vehicles, cleaning products, and materials in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  9. Complete required inspections, records, checklists, and other documentation accurately and timely.
  10. Coordinate and perform the transfer of deceased animals from the Emergency Veterinary Hospital or either NHS campus to the appropriate location for rabies testing, cremation, or other authorized disposition. Ensure proper handling, documentation, storage, transportation, and disposal in accordance with organizational procedures and applicable regulations.
  11. Support and guide volunteers and community service workers in performing assigned responsibilities safely, effectively, and in accordance with Nevada Humane Society policies, procedures, and standards.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned in support of shelter operations.

Position-Specific Requirements

  1. 18 years of age or older.
  2. Valid Nevada or California Driver's License and ability to meet Nevada Humane Society driving requirements.
  3. Ability to safely operate company vehicles.
  4. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
  5. Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety requirements.
  6. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with staff, volunteers, vendors, donors, and members of the public.
  7. Basic computer, mobile device, and communication skills sufficient to complete inspections, records, checklists, inventory tracking, and other required documentation.

General Requirements

  1. 18 years of age or older.
  2. Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines efficiently.
  3. Staying updated on community developments, particularly in animal welfare.
  4. High degree of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  5. Excellent verbal, written, and observational skills.
  6. Self-starter with a goal-oriented mindset, willing to exceed prescribed work and time schedules to meet deadlines.
  7. Possession of a valid Driver’s License with valid registration and insurance for personal vehicles, essential for positions requiring driving.
  8. Demonstrated commitment to the welfare of animals and alignment with the mission of the NHS.
  9. Consistently treat animals with compassion and respect, both professionally and personally, and promote these values to others.
